MyBlogLog Recruitment Video

I’ve been doing some freelance video work for a new recruiting startup out of Montreal called StandoutJobs.com. This is a pretty cool concept for both potential employees and employers. It gives employers another avenue to hire skilled people and it gives potential employees a way to get a sense what a company and future coworkers are like before even applying for the job. Here’s the first video I did for MyBlogLog, a startup of 7 people recently aquired by Yahoo! They are looking for engineers. Lots of them.

Pixelodeon in LA this weekend

There’s a really cool event on tap this weekend, June 9th and 10th, in Los Angeles that I’m proud to be a part of. Pixelodeon is a festival of curated screenings of videoblogs and web videos. Ryan Junell and I are curating a block that will be shown at 1pm on Sunday. If you’re in LA, please come down and check it out. The screenings are free, keynotes require tickets which unfortunately are sold out. Come for the screenings which anyone can come to. Check the complete schedule for something you might like.

Internet

Have you head of Internet? It’s this amazing unregulated place that has conservative politics, emoticons, leaked manslaughter trial documents and no screenfuls of “GO TO HELL”.

Best Press Conference Ever

After the ridiculous overreaction by the Boston authorities over the Aqua Teen Hunger Force LED lightboard graffiti campaign, the two guys behind the Boston pieces held this most awesome press conference.

In this whole debacle, the media keeps calling these LED ads “hoax devices” which is complete bullshit. This implies that the creators intended to make people think they were bombs to cause fear and hysteria. Listen up Boston! It’s a friggin’ ad campaign! The fear and hysteria came from your overreaction to this whole thing, not Turner Broadcasting or the guys who made the harmless lightboards. 9 other cities didn’t freak out, why did Boston? Btw, Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a damn funny show.

Merry Xmas!

I’m back home in northern Virginia with family and all is snug on this Christmas day. Enjoy this little video of something beautiful and bountiful that comes in pairs.

Why Blip.tv Rocks

blip.png
This blog bost by Amit Agarwal sums up nicely why blip.tv rocks for video hosting. I’ve be using blip for over a year now for GETV and I’m completely stoked with everything they’ve done for us. They listen and incorporate feedback and really work well for serialized content where you want to maintain your brand identity, offer multiple file formats, cross-post to blogs, backup to the Internet Archive and see detailed stats. When people ask me about video hosting, I always mention blip first. Merry Christmas everyone. digg it!

Way Fucked Up

This is way disturbing and makes me grateful for the cushy life I live. What’s up with killing peaceful people in the snow? Link to it and make more people aware.

Radically Honest Politics

If I still lived in Virginia, I would so vote for this guy, Brad Blanton. He wrote a book called Radical Honesty that a lot of people say good things about. I am really suprised to see someone from my old home state that isn’t a tobacco farmer, lobbyist, corporate whore, televangelist or some other occuptation that puts them far right of reality. There is hope for Virgina yet. Check out Blanton’s ‘uncampaign’ video.
